Scientists have formally launched one of the ambitious projects in the history of science to study the physics of particles in space conditions by dugging up a tunnel across the border of France and Switzerland. Large Hadron Collider, as it is named, is the particle accelarator, simulates two beams of protons in opposite directions colliding with each other and creating phenomena such as the Big Bang, Scientists hope that they would be able to study theories deeper and the experiment could throw light on some new facts also, which the mankind has ever known.
But the project costs a little bit expensive drawing criticism of draining the budgets of the multinational collaborators. It has cost a whopping $ 9 billion.
CERN, European organisation for Nuclear Research is the official body conducting the experiment.
