Coin causes one of the biggest upsets in US Open History

New comer, Grand Slam debuter from France Julie Coin cause one of the biggest upsets in the US Open history by defeating the No.1 seed Ana Ivanovic of serbia, 6-3,4-6,6-3 at the Arthur Ashe stadium, New York.

Ranked 188 in the world and thought quitting the game altogether some time earlier defeated the reigning French Open champion out of the tournament.


It is reported to be the earliest exit by a top seed at US Open in 40 years.

While the Rafael Nadal advanced against the qualifier Ryler Deheart(US), while Serena Williams won her match against Elena Vesnina of Russia.

Coin comes from Amiens, 100 KM's 62 miles North of Paris.

Coins contemplate retiring from the game, with a careet purse of $99,563, propmpting her to think about her future few weeks before the US open. But things changed for her from her narrow defeat at the Vancouver tournament of International Tennis Tournament's final again Urszula Radwanska from Poland.

Now she is to play Amelie Mauresmo of France the former World No:1 and Wimbledon Open champion who is from the same area as that of Coin.

She regards Mauresmo very higher and her role model.

In the Mens Tennis Roger Federer is to play Thiago Alves from Brazil and Novak Djokovic is to play Robert Kendrick from US.
